The Time Ball was the inspiration of Kathy Loughridge. She was driven to give something back to Marie Curie after the incredible support and kindness shown to Kathy's mother Annie, brother Joseph and sister Ann, who all tragically died from cancer within a short time of each other. Since that time, Kathy founded the Malone Marie Curie fundraising Group and has tirelessly worked on many fund-raising programmes. As a result of our own experiences, and the knowledge that Marie Curie relies entirely on public donations for it's survival, the Time Ball committee, along with friends and family, have committed to raise £100,000 collectively this year by organising and taking part in some key social and sporting events.
On 14th, November, 2015 the Malone Marie Curie Fundraising Group will once again host The Time Ball at the Europa Hotel in Belfast, N. Ireland. This premium event promises to be a memorable black-tie dinner with an evenings entertainment complete with raffle, high value prizes, good company and a three-course meal, including a selection of wine at each table.
Our previous Time Balls have provided a wonderful time for attendees as well as a great opportunity to donate to Marie Curie. Learn more about this event by clicking here, and have a peek at the 2013 Time Ball photos by clicking here.

About Marie Curie
The Time Ball is proud to be a supporter of Marie Curie, a charity devoted to the lives of those terminally ill with cancer. It provides care through the Hospice in Belfast and the Marie Curie Nursing Service. The Marie Curie Hospice provides the best possible quality of life for people with cancer and ongoing support for their families and friends. Following the recent new build of the hospice facility, they now provide an 18 bed unit for specialist care for inpatients, day care for outpatients and home visits. Each room in the hospice has en-suite facilities and an extra bed for family members to stay over. It is as nice as a 4-star resort and provides comfort and beauty to people who deserve the best during such a difficult time.
The extra space gained from the original building is now used for physiotherapy and occupational therapy sessions. They now have a fully equipped aromatherapy suite, a hairdressing room and dedicated children's bereavement counselling room! This is a child friendly place where toys and pictures are used in an informal setting, just like home! The Hospice has also gained a quiet room where family members and friends can take time out to reflect, meditate and pray.
In Northern Ireland, there are over 200 Marie Curie Nurses. A Marie Curie Nurse will begin a working shift at 10pm and will remain with the family until 7am the next morning. This can give the patient's regular carers the chance to take a break from caring or simply to get a good night's sleep. All care provided by the Marie Curie Nursing Service and at the Marie Curie Hospice, Belfast is offered free of charge to patients and their families. Marie Curie needs to raise £5 million per year to provide these crucial services. The Time Ball, and it's parent organisation, Malone Marie Curie fundraising Group, are committed to raising £100,000 this year to help with funding for their many important projects.
Everyone has been touched in some way by the heart-break of cancer, Marie Curie is in place to help with the many emotional and physical needs during a very difficult time. Your support is extremely valuable and important - thank you all for helping the many charities of Marie Curie!
